I have an onion garden that I have kept going for 8 years. Everyone in my family loves onions and we also use them medicinally (a slice of onion on a plate next to the bed to keep the sinus' open).
Yes, I grow them from sets. I haven't had good results from seeds.
I always wanted to try from seeds but I feel like they wont be as big for some reason. Or maybe I heard you have to wait for the 2nd year or something?
