Luvvarkansas thats a great looking lantana but to me it looks like it is the "ann marie" version
I have also seen them formed into "lollipop" topiaries

Have you tried the pineapple salvias !!!

Well, it's possible that it was mislabeled, I've seen that happen before! My neighbor usually doesn't get very specific with names of plants, preferring to use common names, but she said she remembered the name 'Lucille' because it's her mother's name. I Googled "Anne Marie" for info, and it's only supposed to grow 18-24 inches tall, so I don't guess that would be it....this thing gets about 5 feet tall every year! But when I Google "Lucille", I pretty much get nothing. So maybe she's not remembering correctly.

I haven't tried the pineapple salvias, but I'd love to! (So many salvias, so little sun.)

Btw, that 'Mystic Spires' salvia in the picture is growing in afternoon sun only (no more than 5 hours of sun a day at the height of summer), and also being overpowered from time to time by the lantana....but still blooming its pretty head off. Gonna snip a few cuttings soon and put them in my "nursery bed".

Pineapple sage.

The end closest to the camera gets about 3 hours of sun a day, mostly in the morning. It started blooming before the other end that gets about 5 hours a day.

Paperhouse, there you are! I've been looking for you! Have you seen this thread? //www.city-data.com/forum/garde...ify-plant.html No one could identify my plant!

Your salvias are beautiful! Isn't that strange about the sunlight? I'm going to get some of those if I ever see any.

Took this one yesterday. You can see the pineapple sage in the lower left corner.

And looking back towards the house from the back, back yard.

It was built in 1946 by the same guy that built 4 other houses within shouting distance. It's got a leaky basement and solid brick/concrete block/plaster walls with no insulation. A good wood heater in the basement helps me get through the winter. This summer, there were only 2 weeks that I really needed a/c. The house rarely got above 78 degrees even when it was scorching hot outside. The humidity is sometimes the biggest issue.
