hi,
i know that's very very vague....but i used to have a small (8 inch plant) and the leaves would close up everytime you touched it.........and then open up again after a few seconds........

any idea what i'm talking about?

Yes...I had one...the regular name is the "Sensitive Plant"...but I'm not sure of the scientific name....I'd like to have another...I saw seeds for sale in the spring...I think at Walmart.

Seriously? They sell seeds for these?

They're roadside weeds here. My mom has some coming up in her flower beds....when you grab them to pull them up, you get a nasty shock....tiny, very sharp thorns! Very hard to pull up, too.

It's an awful weed here in Hawaii. It can climb through other plants up to 8 feet tall. Those thorns are even on the roots!

It's a plant that grows into a tree & proliferates: not good for the environment...

Mine was in a container....so not a problem. I suppose there are different varieties...mine wasn't an agressive plant at all...it grew very slowly.

When I worked in a nursery we sold them as small house plants. They don't winter here so it's not a problem for us.
