Im a mix of Swiss, Swede, Scot, French, Irish, Dutch, & German! Im not sure of the percent, as Im more swede than anything; but this weekend....im alllll irish! Happy St Pats!
My G-Gradmother and G-Grandfather on my Mom's side were both from Co. Galway (Kinvara and Abbey)! My Gradmother spent part of her childhood living in the US and part in Galway. I'm also married to an Irishman... and spend as much time as home (in Ireland) as possible.
So, yeah, I would consider myself a lot Irish.
A lot. Seven of my great-grandparents came from Ireland, the other one was the descendent of American Loyalists of Dutch and German ancestry.
Thus, three of my grandparents were children of Irish parents who married other children of Irish-born parents, one grandparent was Irish and Dutch-German.
I have one grandfather that was all Irish and the other grandfather was 1/2 Irish and 1/2 Scottish, one all Hungarian grandmother and one all German grandmother. Years ago, St. Patrick's Day was considered special and everyone was intent on wearing green or getting the "pinch" but now I suppose that would bring a lawsuit.
