Do y'all think that Ancestry is trying to comibne these two hints together? My matches recently switched from it saying "3 Shared Ancestor Hints" to 4, but when I click it i get sent to the list of "Common Ancestors" which is a long list of people who have shared names in their trees. Is there a differences or is this just a shift in their next generation of "things"? I'd really like to know who this new person is.

Common Ancestors is more than having shared names in their tree. If you click where it says "Common ancestor" on the third column, it will tell you which ancestors you may have in common. Then clicking on the ancestors named will show you the pathway from you and the DNA match to the common ancestor. You'll need to verify (or disprove) the suggested common ancestor.

But yes, in beta mode it seems like Shared Ancestor Hints no longer exist and are being replaced by ThruLines/Common Ancestors. Some of what were Shared Ancestor Hints still show up under Common Ancestors but it's using ThruLines to find them now. I wish they would keep them separate - the distinction between pulling data from all different trees to make a connection between two DNA matches versus having the same ancestor in both DNA match's trees is important, I think.
