It happened to me, but I wasn't uprooting a family, buying and selling homes and all of that. It was just me and I was renting. I tried out Florida for a while when I had an opportunity to work there. I didn't like it much and eventually left.
I have seen threads in regards to specific areas but in general have others moved cities, areas, only to realize they may have goofed?
Yes! We are Michigan natives and moved to Las Vegas almost 10 years ago. We really liked it there but once we had kids we thought it would be best to move back east. So 4 months ago we picked up and moved back east to Florida. There are some family members here and family visits here. We regret it and are moving back home to Vegas at the end of next month. The grass is not always greener!!!
We moved from Sedalia, Missouri to Boise, ID back in 2000. At the time we were childless so it was an interesting adventure, but in hindsight we probably would have been better off financially if we had made a smaller move to the KC, MO metro area. We also missed a climate that had rain and lush green grass and trees. Of course, we had three awesome kids while in Idaho so I can't complain too much!
We are in Georgia now, but we moved here to be closer to family that ended up here. If we didn't have family here, I doubt we would have ended up here.
I've moved 12 times in my life so far, for 5 of those, I was married with children. Only one city turned out to be a mistake, and even then it most likely had more to do with living in the wrong area than the city itself.
Waaayyy back, I moved to Arkansas - only because we wanted to go back nearer our families (mine were in TN) and that's where my husband had a job offer. I cried every day the first 2 years. The next four weren't much better and we ended up divorced and I couldn't wait to get back to Florida!
