I own my own internet domain. Geoff@GeoffDxxxxxxx.com will be my email address forever. Similarly, my cell phone number of 20 years will be my phone number forever even though I don’t live in that state.

I just hope the robocall problem gets solved.

A friend of mine was giving her 14-year-old son his first cellphone, and she said that it struck her that it would be his phone number likely for the rest of his life.

For what reason??

I have had the same number for the last 25 years at least. Same one since my first cellphone.

I live in a resort community that has a lot of retirees and we all have different area codes on our phones.

It was one thing to change numbers when people were still charged for long distance calls, but most people this days have unlimited calling, no long distance so it is not necessary.

My daughter has done the same thing. She's moved interstate a few times over the years but always kept her number. When she moved back here though it was long distance to call her on my landline. I have my cell back now so no problem but she lived with me and still, calling her was long distance.

When our daughter moved from AZ to PA, she kept her AZ phone number. I suggested to her that she change it but she decided to keep the number. When her kids started school, it wasn't a problem. Apparently these days, a call from a landline to a cell phone with an out of town area code isn't a problem anymore regarding long distance charges.

No, we moved from Illinois to Indiana almost three years ago. I kept my phone number because I've had it forever and no real reason to change it!
