Unfortunately don't have the time to do as much of my own research as I would like because the move is coming much sooner than anticipated, who are the reputable nationwide moving companies (will be moving from the southeast to northeast)?

I would need a do-all company (pack, ship and unpack). I have seen a few companies mentioned here and there. NorthAmerican is one that continues to pop up.

Also, any guesstimates on a 2 bedroom (1200 sq ft) apt move from GA to NJ would run me?

Lately, what do I need to watch out for in looking at companies? Scams? Fees after the move?

Thanks in advance!

Check out movingscam.com before you move. Lots of good info there. Don't use anyone you get offering you a deal from the internet that's where you will get scammed. Lots of posts on this forum about that!

Agreed on using movingscam.com. I moved from Florida to Nevada, and that website was my saviour. Beware of the moving companies that give you a low rate. If it sounds too good to be true, it is. They ship your stuff, and then hold your belongings hostage until you pay them more. The horror stories I read are aweful. I went with United Van Lines. They were not the cheapest, but not the most expensive either. With a few exceptions, everything arrived in one piece, and they only charged me what was on the contract. I would use them again. My move from FL to NV (3 bedroom apartment) ran me about $6000. But I have more stuff than the average person!

We used this company moving from Phoenix to FL. Their rate was excellent above the rest, hopefully this has not changed in 22 months. We sold a lot of stuff before we moved, but had enough to haul despite that, needing a company. Everything arrived safe and sound, nothing broken - and no hidden costs.
