other parts of the country. Even though the Chicago metro area gained people from births and international immigration, it lost more people due to deaths and domestic out-migration.

That's actually the trend in many large cities including NYC and LA. The difference is that NYC and LA have massive amounts of international migration, much higher than Chicago, which is why they stay in the black.

It speaks volumes when your city has to solely rely on immigrants to grow...there's something seriously wrong there.

When a city begins to loose population it greatly strains the tax base, fewer people (often with less income) are paying to maintain the same amount of roads, sewers, schools, etc. So they raise taxes more and more which cause most middle / upper middle class people to leave. You get more abandoned homes where no property tax is paid. Compare this to Southern and Western cities that have few vacant homes and never had population loss. They can keep taxes low while providing better services.

No doubt. Most come here illegally, mooch off the system, turn neighborhoods to absolute garbage, drive down home values, graffiti up the town, refuse to assimilate, call us "racist" because we want illegals deported, drive up crime rates, steal our SS numbers, run rampant fake ID rings, have endless kids on our dime, and vote Democrat because, well, Dems seemingly promote this "lifestyle". The worst part is that Dems are too stupid to see their own demise!

And THATS why people are fleeing places like Chicago. They're tired of Dem corruption. Theyre tired of Dem taxes. Theyre tired of crime. Theyre tired of endless debt their cities/states are running up. Theyre tired of watching their neighborhoods turn into 3rd world cesspools. Theyre tired of getting nickled n dimed to death. Theyre... just... tired! Funnier still is how Dems vote this crap, worthless element into office, watch their cities/states get destroyed (IL and CA - IM LOOKING AT YOU!!!), then run away themselves from the nightmare they've created!!! Then they move to red states like AZ or TX or AR or TN and vote blue down there! hahahaha SUCH IGNORANCE!!! I say we round up these cancers and send them back to their home states. You made your bed, you lie in it.

That's the opposite of what's happening in Chicago. Those leaving (small number BTW, estimated loss is fewer than 10,000) are poor and those moving in/staying are more affluent. Double digit growth in households making over 100k and 200k.

I'll never understand why some people are so angry all the time. Not good for your health.

Should I not be angry about rising taxes, crumbling infrastructure, corrupt politicians, illegal immigration, and horrendous debt?

Its so bad that people are literally moving away for their own sanity. That's pretty bad.

Put things into perspective. Everything you're complaining about happens everywhere in the US and world. It's a fact of life, unfortunately. We make the best with what we have and keep moving forward. No place is perfect and if you're looking for some sort of Utopia you will surely be disappointed.

Providing better services? All of your infrastructure is newer....wait until it's 50-60+ years old and crumbling like it is in the older, more established cities in the country. You'll have to raise taxes as well. It's imminent.

You gun-totin', bass-ackwards, prejudiced conservatives can have each other. That used to mean you lived in the South, but now it also includes rural America. Doesn't matter to me, just keep your ridiculous policies away from progressive, inclusive, sustainable cities in the North and on the coasts.
