Oh my, those are awesome pictures, Kidphilly. They make me a little homesick for the slice of paradise. I once grew up around.

I hear you. I spent half of my youth growing up in the area pictured; one thing I have not seen mentioned in this thread is the fall smell that comes with these views not sure how to describe it but if you closed your eyes you can just smell fall. To me there has always been something about fall (probably spring too) but that first blast of cold crisp air and that smell; somehow energizes me in so many ways. But in all honesty those pics were nice but depending on the amount of rainfall the vividness of the reds varies from year to year.

Gorgeous pictures and I totally agree about the crisp, energizing smell of fall!
This might sound crazy but one of the things that sold me on my current location was the smell of fall in the air. I opened the door one cool morning and just knew this was an area I could be happy in because it smelled so right.

There is nothing quite like the lovely smell of freshly chopped wood burning in a wood stove or fireplace. It lets me know that Autumn is here and Winter on the way.

Nice. Those are the views I know. Georgia, N.C., and Tennessee in the fall are incredible. The Smokies are unbelievable.

Damn I love Fall... kidphilly I definitely know what you're talking about when you talk about that "fall feeling". Favorite time of year.

Anywhere in the Appalachians (apart from New England) from New York to Alabama have beautiful fall foliage.

Tons of places... upper Midwest (Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota), Smoky Mountains, Colorado and Rocky Mtn states. I think in many ways each of these regions are at least equals to New England.
