As a female, I can think of 2 types of women (generally speaking) that tend not to want children:
1. Career-oriented women.
You'll, like you said, find them in large cities like NYC, Chicago, Seattle, LA, etc. Even smaller large cities like Orlando, Miami, Denver, and Minniappolis should have a fare amount of such women (having lived in Orlando, yes, they are here).
Look for business dressed women who seem like they are in a hurry, holding a Starbucks coffee in one hand, and a cell phone in the other.
2. Feminists
Definately not the route I'd recommend because they tend to be overly self centered, however, if this is your desire, you can usually find them in most cities.
I'd automatically suggest the northeast..I can't actually say from experience on that one (just from stereotypes).

I'd choose places where women aren't as likely to just cave into societal norms and expectations. To that end, I'd look in areas that are more educated and less religious.
Certainly not Minneapolis. People here are obsessed with family and children. Anywhere in the Midwest, except Chicago, is probably out.
Don't paint us all with the same brush. My aunt worked at Robert W. Baird & Co. here in Milwaukee for the better part of 30 years and never had children. She never had a problem staying socially active as a single middle-aged person.
She's in her 50's now and recently married a guy who has adult-children. The 2 of them live at a country club near Charlotte, NC. She skipped having kids of her own and now she's a grandma to his kids' kids. That's the way to do it IMO. All the fun stuff with none of the dirty diapers and baby puke that comes along with parenting.

I suppose... I think there is a bond with your kids that you can't possibly understand until they are your flesh and blood standing there. I don't have kids, but I can imagine there is an effect that comes in to place. Particularly for the female as they get a flood of hormones.
