Chicago....no explanation even necessary there....Chicago isn't the capital of the Midwest just because it's in the heart of it

I voted for St. Paul. I've always been curious about what it would be like to live in the Twin Cities, where gay people aren't followed around by pro-Bush lynch mobs, but I've heard that Minneapolis has torn down most of its historic architecture in favor of parking lots and newer, modern buildings, which isn't my cup of tea. On the other hand, I've heard that St. Paul has managed to preserve its historic architecture, which is a major plus to me. I've also taken a recent interest in Youngstown, Ohio thanks to Boardmanite's great photo tours, but it wasn't included in your poll.

It's been many years since I was there. I would love to go to Minneapolis to visit again. I understand that St. Paul is very liberal but expensive too. I have fond memories of this beautiful city.

My vote (Chicago) A true gem with everything that you could possibly want and I'm not exaggerating this. It's like a miniature N.Y with round the clock entertainment, great dining, jazz capital, lots of blues, theaters, art, museums, parks simply everything. Good public transportation (Ride the L)
Check out the Cubs at the Historic Wrigley Field. Cost of living (suprisingly) hasn't gone up like most other cities. Chicago is right at the median.

Cons: Cold from Nov-April. Dress warm and drink coffee, if millions of Chi-Towners can do it so can you.

My favorites are between Chicago, Minneapolis, and St. Paul. all three have tons to offer and all amaze me. If it weren't for winters, i would definently want to live in one of them, they're such nice places and I hope to go to all three again soon

I guess in terms of pure size and variety, it would have to be Chicago. It's sort of the 800-pound-gorilla in the room.

Among the "smaller" options, I'd pick St Paul or Madison.

Please tell us all in what cities it is that gays are followed around by "pro-Bush lynch mobs." I'm interested to know where that's going on. If true, this is a HUGE story. If not true, then there is much I could say to you, but I'd probably get banned.
