Is it comman for most cities in the US and Canada of backing of businesses and factories off other street that can be seen from through roads ? Where you have to drive off the through road on to other street or two to get to those businesses and factories ?






I know they do this with homes bult post ww2 do to to safety reason and so much traffic no one wants to live on through road not to say hard to get in and out of you drive way do to so much traffic.

But I have not seen them to this in any of the areas I have been in Los Angeles , Phoenix , Las Vegas , Albuquerque , Miami , Fort Lauderdale or in Broward County for any of the businesses , stores , factories or commercial retail.

But does you city do this ?

It's to preserve the hierarchy of roads, I think.

Around here, most of the businesses in the US Highway 53 corridor (our car-oriented shopping strip) are not accessed directly via US Highway 53 but from access roads.

Not sure what you mean but I have not seen them doing that in Las Vegas , Albuquerque ,Tampa, Miami ,Fort Lauderdale and Broward County cities like Coral Springs and Pompano Beach .Most businesses , stores , factories or commercial retail are on the road.

I have not seen cities backing businesses and factories off other street and you have to drive off the through road on to other street or two to get to them.

It depends.
Normally large parcels of land are bought up, developed (roads, utilities, sometimes buildings) and subdivided. These are known as business parks (industrial estates in other countries).

The roads start out as private then are later maintained by the municipality.

It isn't always this way but like with homes, it's easier for a business to go looking for a site with the infrastructure already in place than to go through the process of doing it all their own.

That true but in any of the cities I have been to in the US like Los Angeles , Phoenix , Las Vegas , Albuquerque , Miami , Fort Lauderdale or in Broward County I have not seen them backing of businesses and factories off other street that can be seen from through roads . And the only way to get to these businesses and factories is you have to drive off the through road onto other street or two to get to these businesses and factories .

I thought with most people here been to alot of cities and know their city well will know if their city is doing this nor not.
