Gotcha. If Im ever in CT, Ill be sure to avoid those 2 cities.
I dunno, if you're out there on other business, a side trip to New Haven might be worth the while to see the Yale campus and the area around it. It's pretty nice.
When I saw the title, "America's Best College Town", Athens, GA was actually the first one that popped into my head. Charlottesville, VA is another great one, although it strikes me as boring. Oxford, MS, Auburn, AL and Clemson, SC aren't bad either, but none of them have a downtown like Athens does.
Some of these mentioned aren't towns. Minneapolis, Syracuse, Boston, Austin, Boston, Pittsburgh, etc. - those are cities. But I guess everybody wants to be a homer. Hey, I think Columbia, SC is the best college town, because I went to school there!

Thankfully my business doesnt include travel, which leaves me only with leisure travel. And when Im leisure traveling, I usually try to avoid college cities if at all possible (minus bigger places like Austin, etc). And from what Ive read, New Haven and Bridgeport are dumps. Last place I want to go on vacation is to a dump. lol
This thread, like a lot of threads on this board are impossible to answer. How can you possibly visit and hangout and truely experience every college town in America. You may over your life time, but it would take you 30 years with traveling to a few every year. Then you wouldn't have nearly the amount of fun visiting them when your older then you have when your young.

No, you can't go to them all. You can go to some of them, though, and then you can compare the ones that you've been to.

I've heard a lot of people say that. I have only driven through and stopped at a place to watch The Dave Matthews Band (much to my surprise!). I lived in Richmond, VA at the time and many of our friends went to college there. They all say they loved it.
