Interesting. I have a pretty unconventional lifestyle and I've never had any significant problems living life exactly as I please in Texas (multi-ethnic family with a wide range of political and spiritual beliefs).
Many people don't have significant problems but a large portion of the majority have a problem with such a interesting lifestyle, as they might describe it. This isn't specific to Texas though.

Oh well, I guess I don't care what people think, as long as they keep their opinions to themselves and aren't rude or problematic to me. I mean, I don't tell THEM what I secretly think about THEIR lives either.

I don't care either, it's just obvious when people look a certain way or worse when they vocally express their disagreement with passive aggressive statements.

Oh. I guess I just don't care what people think as long as they're not infringing on my rights. I'm just not all that sensitive I guess.
Co-sign. The Texan "Live and let live" theory is full of bologna from my experiences.
Yeah Texas is far from being liberal or even libertarian outside of the major cities.
Until they legalize medical marijuana, same sex marriage, or even euthanasia like they did in Colorado, New Mexico, Oregon, or Washington state (which is proof that it is a truly live and let live environment), I would say it is almost completely dominated by social conservatives.
Texas even has "dry" counties in which you can't buy alcohol in some areas for starters.
I thought this was about liberal areas in the south?
