The places I like aren't on your list. I have lived in Stuart and Palm Beach Gardens Florida and intend to move back down there in the next several years, somewhere on that stretch of coast between those two towns. Currently Ocean City, MD is where I consider home. It is the only ocean front city in MD as Baltimore is about a 3 hour drive from the ocean so I wouldn't call that city anywhere near oceanfront.
Ocean City, MD has a nice blend of being a major tourist resort in the summer to being just a small town in the off season. It also has among the best offshore fishing in the US off it's coast from June through September. And the whole area is actually affordable with a low COL which is surprising considering it is in MD.
How does Seattle have 4 votes when it is not known for beaches and nice weather?
Many of the places are just good for walking by the water...I wouldn't call SF a beach city either for the most part, I certainly wouldn't randomly take a dip swimming in the water there either. But, both have nice views by the ocean and other ocean oriented stuff... plenty of boaters.
I love these New Orleans beaches Lol, but seriously some of my favorite beaches are Atlantic and Neptune Beach in Jacksonville, FL. The water's not the bluest, the sand isn't the whitest, but its quaint and not overly crowded. I sound hella old right now, but thats what I like.
I would live on the CT shore. It's beautiful there with small New England towns and some fairly good beaches. You aren't that far from exquisite beaches in nearby Rhode Island. Lots of boating and outdoor activities. Lots of culture because of Yale. Not really New Haven, but just to the east of New Haven. Even their winters aren't that bad anymore.
I don't do Florida heat and humidity. I have relatives in VA Beach and it's not a very nice place--you can't even get to the beach, it's all hotels. As far as the west coast, I've only been there once, the beaches weren't as fine as the east coast beaches, and it sounds like you have to be a millionaire to live there. CT is expensive enough!
IT would be better if the OP was less ignorant about places that are on the ocean.
Houston is NOT on the Ocean.
Galveston is on the ocean - very nice - quaint historic district -lots of beach
Rockport ( The Jewel of the Texas Coast). More of a town than a city but 25 min from Corpus Christi- friendly safe no traffic i moved here 16 year ago and love it.
Corpus Christ - 300,000 voted along with Buffalo the most drivable city. Cheap to live.
There are more - Get a map - Ever heard of Alabama ? The blue stuff under it on a map is ocean.
The game changer for me is being able to take a dip - that takes the Pacific off the list - despite the gorgeous beaches. So you have Florida - Destin and Ft Walton Beach arent on here - I wouldnt want to live there, but man those beaches are stunning.
