I am so happy that suburbs are starting to make a comeback. Urban life is severely overrated. Been there, done that.
Actually they're not and there is a lot to be said for urban life in terms of infrastructure, transportation, cultural and social offerings that the suburbs don't have, or have little of...and believe it or not your experiences/observations don't speak for the rest of the country
I was curious, so I looked at ~40 of my facebook friends from high school. About 40% live in our home state or region (New England). Just a few were still in the exact same town, but most of them are in the Boston metro area (where I'm from). More than half of my classmates live outside of New England. We're pretty well scattered around the country. There are three former classmates who are abroad, two of whom are career military.
We're in our mid-30s. I think many of us have "settled down" to some extent.
I like the area where I'm from, but haven't lived there since I went off to college. However, I just did relocate to my husband's home state, partly to be closer to his family.
