DC's white population is much more similar to whites in the South and in that regard DC is an anamoly among cities in the Bos-Wash corridor.
DC also used to have an ethnic white population from the 1860's to the 1960's. It had a couple of Irish and Italian nabes but most of the ethnic white population was mostly Eastern, Central, and Southern European. There was even a large Jewish presence as well. There's still a small Jewish population in the 16th Street Heights neighborhood but a majority of DC's Jewish population moved to suburban Maryland. I'm starting to think that had DC never lost its ethnic European population, its ethnic white population probably would be more similar to Chicago, St. Louis, or Cleveland than say Boston or Philly.

I think the opposite. DC feels more like a Maryland city than a Virginian one to me.

Baltimore became majority black around the 60s maybe. In the 40's the city was over 80% white, meaning that it was, at most, 19% black. The great migration was where the rise in black population came from.

It's an annex of the North.

Now just how in the Hell can DC be more like a Virginia city when DC is part of the Maryland territory. You must be talking about Arlington which once was part of DC.

Right because Baltimore has more of a Southern draw than DC due to having more transplants moving to DC than Baltimore.
