5. DC (country's Capitol)
Sorry but skyscrapers do not make a city well known. Every decent sized city has skyscrapers. Nobody is impressed with skyscrapers, especially not international people. Unless maybe that come from a farm, and have never been to a city before.

Granted Chicago has a great skyline, probably the best that I have ever seen. But a great skyline does not make a city. It's like a book with a fancy cover, but not much inside.

Uhhh... if NYC had a smaller skyline it would NOT be nearly as famous as it is today. I'd say NYC's skyline is one of the top, if not THE top, international visitor appeal it has.

NYC is famous and the skyline is too. It’s the most photographed, iconic and largest by far in the USA so yes I’d say it’s famous for it.

I believe the Chicago skyline has more and larger buildings. Regardless the NYC skyline is not the top appeal with international visitors. The NYC skyline is not that remarkable by international standards. How could it possibly compare to stuff like this?

LOL post of the day!!! “Chicago has more and larger buildings than N.Y.”!!! If you can google HK and Dubai surely you can do that for other things, too. Check it out sometime, I believe NYC has about 6500 high rises vs 1200 or so in Chicago. NY has 19 super tall buildings vs 6. Not putting Chicago down at all but have you been to NY???

What on earth are you talking about? Of course NYC has huge international appeal. The shear scale and density of buildings across the entire island is virtually unmatched in the world. The scale and variety of architectural styles in skyscrapers is unmatched.

Dubai's skyline is mediocre. Sorry- I don't find the appeal of soul-less Dubai marina or the towers lining a massive highway. Burj Khalifa area is mediocre as well.

HK is the only skyline in the world that can rival NYC.

I was going to post this same thing. Seems like that poster doesn't like the New York skyline, but in reality its a marvel. Coming into Manhattan via the Lincoln Tunnel around the bend, its literally a miles long canyon of skyscrapers. I agree Hong Kong is the only city that rivals New Yorks skyline.

Chicago has a beautiful skyline, laid our nicer than New York, but I don't know where the thought of Chicago having more big buildings came from...

Good post, NYC is an urban monster. The thing about public forums is you don’t know who’s posting; a kid in HS, an older one living in their parents basement, a homer, a troll or someone knowledgeable. It’s like listening to medical advice on a forum, there’s no way of knowing if they are REAL doctors or not! Grain of salt!

New York doesn't have the biggest buildings, and it doesn't have the most. Your view of Dubai's skyline is subjective.
