I bet many of those "minijobbers" are people who just work part-time, right? Like mothers who want to earn a little money while their kids are in school or kindergarten.
Most unemployment statistics are skewed anyway. Just look at America where people who gave up looking for work are not counted as unemployed, just like people who work 1 hr/week.
Either way, there's a downward trend thankfully.
There is not going to be another wave of European immigrants to the US. It's much easier for EU citizens to go to other EU countries than to move to the States. The standard of living in many EU countries is just as high as in the US, so there's no need to move statesside. Also, this country makes it very hard to immigrate legally, that alone will keep Europeans from coming here.
