My husband & I are looking to relocate but stuck between a rock & a hard place. My family is from PA. His family is from Nebraska. When we were dating, I moved out to Omaha Nebraska & spent 2 years there. I truly fell in love with the Midwest, but missed my friends back home. About a year ago, we moved to PA to see if maybe East Coast living was meant to be more than Midwest living. We quickly discovered, we don't belong. So the dilemma is this- do we relocate back to Omaha, or take the leap & move to somewhere we've both always dreamed in Colorado? We plan on starting a family within the next few years, so this is a major factor. The drive to Omaha is only about 6 hours, which is very doable. We're very adventurous and love trying new things, which is why moving to CO is so appealing, but the fact that we would still be far away from our Omaha friends & family is pulling on my heart strings. Help!

I don't really think anyone can tell you what to do in this case. Only you know your heart and how much family means to you. My children are now grown and have children. I would have a tendency to be more near them than my siblings if it were necessary to make a decision. One of my daughters (and grands) lived 1000 miles away for 10 yrs. It was hard on the both of us at times. She was fine with it until she started having children then she really wanted to be closer to her family (we're large too). I also find that as my parents are aging (80 going on 50) I want to be nearer to them also. But, we're all different. If I had my druthers and family were not a consideration I would have head to Wyoming or Montana decades ago. But I didn't, and I don't regret it.
