That's right. Northern Florida is as southern as it gets.

If you hate Mississippi's state flag because the " Confederate Battle Flag " isn't prominant enough for you in the way it's designed, you"ll love Georgia's state flag as it's basically the " First National Flag of The Confederacy " in design. As far as what these four states have in common one thing is true in that their racial climates during the 20th century were shaped by the Klan sloshing over from it's national stronghold in Georgia in a domino affect that also included the surrounding states of Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Actually, the very first Battle Flag was square shaped (used by the Army of Northern Virginia). It came into being because the first national flag -- the true "Stars and Bars" -- looked too much like the United Flag when seen from a distance and caused a lot of confusion amidst all the smoke on the battle-field.

The more familiar rectangular design was used by the Army of Tennessee and as the Confederate Navy Jack. Interestingly, neither was ever officially adopted by the CSA although its pattern was incorporated into the second and third national flags.
