Besides southern food/soulfood, what type of food is Atlanta known for?
That's not a bad thing.
Most southern cities are actually known for homegrown food. It's not necessarily the best to claim food from another culture or country such as European, or Asian food. Florribean or Tex-Mex are exceptions.
That's why I think New Orleans should be at the top cause they have various homegrown food cuisines such as Soul Food, BBQ and Creole/Cajun Food.
I have has the opposite experience. I had one of the best burgers in my life in new Orleans. I also had good Italian, good Vietnamese and even good soul food
Yes, I have had great Vietnamese (no surprise) and soul food in Nawlins.

I do have a problem with Louisville being added for no other reason than that one individual could vote for it. If we really want to make this all inclusive, where's Birmingham, Jacksonville, Knoxville, Baton Rouge, Little Rock, etc? Suppose someone wants to vote for those cities.
Jacksonville has improved immensely in the past decade and now punches at about its weight lol. I think it belongs in the third tier of Southern cities' culinary scenes.
LOL @ Memphis or San Antonio having better food than Austin, Birmingham, or Louisville
They have likely never been to those cities! Memphis is not bad, and consider all major cities have advanced food scene now...but Austin is in a different stratosphere and so in Louisville. Again, if you eat at least 2 top restaurants in every hip neighborhood in these cities, you may know what you are talking about. If not, you probably do not

Well Austin isn't on the poll. Maybe you should add it in case someone wants to vote for it.
In case you were wondering mega-man - it was I, moi, who suggested adding Louisville and Charleston (post #7). So your anger at Peter may be misplaced.
It seems from a lot of threads recently you are wanting to engage in **** wagging contests. Can I assure you that you would most definitely win such a contest with moi - maybe now you can relax.
I think a discussion of noteworthy cities and their culinary offerings is valuable without making it all about the absolute rankings.
Atlanta has an extremely underwhelming culinary scene for a city its size
