A place neither yuppy nor heavily religious, and not heavily oriented to the keeping up with jones either. But not a large city.

This is really just a broad shot in the dark question I know.

So something like this semi-rural... is it out there? What are your thoughts??

Anything else, as you could find quite a few places that could fit?

You could live in the Napa Valley and look at wine vineyards. Is that European enough for you?

no place in america has european style politics if that is what you are looking for. No american county or city has european gun control laws or stuff like that but vermont is the most leftist and liberal and is a beautiful state

LOL, I thought you meant views as in vistas, which were also rural and not too yuppy, yatta yatta. You could find all of that in most rural areas in the west. Oregon comes to mind.

you won't find transit/rail like in europe or politics like gun control/health care etc anywhere in the united states, it is a car culture even in vermont. there is no european style city/county/small town right now in the united states that I know of

There are a number of options. Most of Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, a good bit of Pennsylvania (the middle third), a large chunk of Michigan, Iowa and Minnesota, central and eastern Oregon or Washington....I'm sure there's more, but that is what immediately comes to mind.
