Us Chicagoans like to hate on Indianapolis. For no reason at all.
I know someone that used to live in Milwaukee that said Chicago people hated on them the most. Had not heard about Chicagoans hating Indy until now. Guess it could have been ever since the Bears lost to the Colts in the Super Bowl several years ago.
Houston has a bunch of one way rivalries, Chicago, Dallas, Socal etc. I think Houston is still upset because they think Dallas gets more attention while they are the bigger city (but smaller metro). The"rivalry" with Chicago is because they want to be the 3rd biggest city.

My experience as a Chicagoan is that we in the Chicagoland area are generally favorably disposed to Milwaukee. We like Milwaukee and have affinity with it
As for Indy: sorry.....it doesn't even make the radar screen in Chicagoland(except, of course, in the Calumet region)

The rivalry between Houston and DFW certainly isn't one way. Though, unlike Houston, DFW doesn't really see Chicago as a rival, partly because it is so much bigger and partly because, in my view, any rivalry (Houston included) takes a backseat to the friendly Dallas and Fort Worth rivalry within the region.
St. Louis has rivalries with Chicago and KCMO. Both primarily have to do with sports, but the St. Louis region most definitely perceives itself as being superior to the KCMO region still.

The untrained person will find the KS people to have an air of superiority (many of them live in arguably the nicest part of the metro area, Johnson County), and the MO people tend to live in the city of KCMO itself and have a harder time defending its shortcomings, even though many of the enjoyed amenities are there.
It's rather interesting how you have the opposite over in St. Louis' side of Missouri. The majority of the people and the most affluent communities all live on the Missouri side. The Illinois side is considered to be the redheaded stepchild.

I generally hear people talk favorably about Milwaukee, albeit in a sort of condescending way. They consider it to be Chicago's mini me.

Really? I hear people talk **** about Indiana all the time, although Indy certainly comes up less so than the entire state of Indiana itself. The Indiana section of the metro is also certainly looked down upon. Maybe it's a more recent thing?
