Sure. If you buy crappy or in the boonies.

I point out it's still lower than where they came from (in terms of what you get for the money), but they remain disillusioned bc they can't have their 4000 sq ft mansion in a prime location.

Crying to me about $3000 a month for an apartment in West Plano. I didn't build up your fantasies. Plenty of cheaper apartments in less desirable locations.
A cursory look shows that just about every 2 br in Plano is below 3k: Apartments for Rent in Plano, TX - 1373 Rentals dallas apartments / housing rentals - craigslist

Always amazed at people that try to talk up their city. 3,000 gets you a pretty decent apartment in the DC area, and probably most of California. It should get you the entire apartment complex in Plano.

I would think SM is pricier than Seattle.

The food is extremely expensive and so are the drinks (I'm talking LA prices).
. Sedona, AZ- For a town in Northern Arizona it is extremely expensive...from the food to the resorts to the median home price of $400,000...and the median home value is $430,000. That's more expensive than the average home value/cost in Phoenix, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Austin, Chicago, ect.
Sedona's prices are so bad that the workers have to live 30 miles away in Cottonwood and commute, I know because I've talked to them on multiple occasions

Depends on where, at least with Houston, from what I've read lately, houses inside the 610 are in the LA price range (i.e. $600,000 for an 1,100 square footer)

How about Orlando?

The average one bedroom apartment rents for a bit over $1100 a month, and anything most would consider desirable is above $850 a month...with a median income (not household, per person) averaging less than 26K per year.

Burlington, VT, the state's largest city (only 40,000 for the city proper), is very pricey, and more expensive than many much larger southern and midwestern cities...
