Wow. Florida is now more than a million more people than New York. Wasn't it just a few years ago that Florida passed it for the #3 spot?

Not that I like seeing Illinois decline, but it's nice to be in the top 5 again. Won't hold on to that forever though haha. Or even more than 20 years.

Is it though? Does it really change anything?

With IL and PA at virtually identical populations, and neither growing with much significance, both are likely to fall out of the top 5 in the not-too-distant future.

And poor PR, WV, WY!

Maybe. Maybe not. There was a time when everyone imagined the industrial northeast and upper mid-west would always be the economic hub of the country. Now, economic factors favor the sunbelt. If you wait long enough, everything cycles.

How recent are these? I remember already seeing data that showed a population decline for Wyoming, but those charts show that 2016-2017 is the only recent time period when it's declined.

Edit: Wait, never mind, that's the 2010 census, not 2015. Two declines in a row for Wyoming, huh.
