I'm a fan of anime, but not too crazy about it. I lived up and down the East Coast and anime seems to moderately big, but I wonder how big it is on the West Coast since the West Coast has a more established Japanese population, and it being closer to Asia?
I'm a HUGE Anime fan myself, from Hunter X Hunter to One Punch Man, and everything in between. Not that it matters really, but I always felt like Rappers in the South/Eastcoast used more Anime References within their music, just though that was interesting to share.

Oh nice, I heard that comic con in San Diego is huge. I know here in NC there's one in Charlotte.

Anime conventions are considered to be distinct from comic cons, as they tend to have a more specific focus on manga, anime, and Japanese culture. Compare the Wikipedia List of anime conventions to the list of comic book conventions in your post. Of course, many of the larger comic cons have a significant portion of anime-focused programming as well.
Los Angeles has the biggest anime convention by far, but there are large (20k+ "warm body" attendance) cons in many places.
The following list, from animecons.com, is of the highest-attended anime conventions in North America last year (including two in Canada):
Quote:
Twelve Largest North American Anime Conventions of 2017:
By metro area, those cons are in LA, Houston, DFW, Toronto, Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, Seattle, DC, Detroit, Montreal, and NYC. NYC being so low is mostly due to it being the first-year event; a standalone anime convention had been held at the same venue from 2007-09, but thereafter it was merged into New York Comic Con.
Probably more so in the west coast but I live in Raleigh, NC and my roommate and his boyfriend love anime. Then again, my roommate is from Vegas, so who knows.
West coast is more connected to Asian culture in general.
Anime is Japanese Culture.
If anything, Japanese Anime Culture is more connected to the US, than the rest of Asia. A lot of Anime's show American influences, even though anime companies have admitted in the past that it was a marketing ploy to grab the attention of potential viewers, which in this case, outside of Japan, was largely in the US.
