I'm a fan of anime, but not too crazy about it. I lived up and down the East Coast and anime seems to moderately big, but I wonder how big it is on the West Coast since the West Coast has a more established Japanese population, and it being closer to Asia?

Well the largest Comic-Con is in San Diego, but by comparison there's more Comic/Anime Conventions in the East, than they are in the West.

Comic Con Events in United States (USA) | Comic-Con Dates

And of the 21 Largest Comic Conventions, most are in the East as well.

I'm a HUGE Anime fan myself, from Hunter X Hunter to One Punch Man, and everything in between. Not that it matters really, but I always felt like Rappers in the South/Eastcoast used more Anime References within their music, just though that was interesting to share.

Anime conventions are considered to be distinct from comic cons, as they tend to have a more specific focus on manga, anime, and Japanese culture. Compare the Wikipedia List of anime conventions to the list of comic book conventions in your post. Of course, many of the larger comic cons have a significant portion of anime-focused programming as well.

Los Angeles has the biggest anime convention by far, but there are large (20k+ "warm body" attendance) cons in many places.

The following list, from animecons.com, is of the highest-attended anime conventions in North America last year (including two in Canada):

Quote:
Twelve Largest North American Anime Conventions of 2017:

Anime Expo - 107,658 warm bodies (up 7.21%)
Anime Matsuri - 36270 warm bodies (up 20.04%)
A-Kon - 33,102 warm bodies, 25,289 paid attendees (up 11.08%)
Anime North - 32,167 warm bodies
Anime Weekend Atlanta - approximately 31,500 warm bodies, 29,872 paid attendees (up 3.79%)
Anime Central - 30,221 warm bodies (down 3.97%)
Anime Boston - 25,848 warm bodies (down 4.18%)
Sakura-Con - approximately 25,000 warm bodies (up 8.70%)
Otakon - 24,894 warm bodies, approximately 22,000 paid attendees (down 14.49%)
Youmacon - 22,142 paid attendees (up 5.26%)
Otakuthon - 22,065 warm bodies (up 3.52%)
Anime NYC - approximately 20,000 warm bodies (first year)
By metro area, those cons are in LA, Houston, DFW, Toronto, Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, Seattle, DC, Detroit, Montreal, and NYC. NYC being so low is mostly due to it being the first-year event; a standalone anime convention had been held at the same venue from 2007-09, but thereafter it was merged into New York Comic Con.

I think Anime is popular nationwide. Here in New York, I know that the people who watch anime are very diverse.

It's probably the most popular in the Western US, not saying it's not also popular in the rest of the country as well.

Probably more so in the west coast but I live in Raleigh, NC and my roommate and his boyfriend love anime. Then again, my roommate is from Vegas, so who knows.

Anime is Japanese Culture.

If anything, Japanese Anime Culture is more connected to the US, than the rest of Asia. A lot of Anime's show American influences, even though anime companies have admitted in the past that it was a marketing ploy to grab the attention of potential viewers, which in this case, outside of Japan, was largely in the US.
