States that feel longer to drive through border than border than it would seem?

Virginia can feel long on I-95, you can be surprised how much there is between Richmond and North Carolina.
Florida is also much longer/larger than I realized, especially the distance from the Georgia border to Jacksonville and then Jacksonville to Titusville and Cape Canaveral.
True Virginia is a BIG state--nearly as big as North Carolina.

This is true! We took this route for the first time this past September and I couldn't believe how long it seemed to take to get to the NC border after we left Richmond. It is deceiving on a map.
Michigan from the Ohio border to the Mackinac Bridge on I-23/I-75. It seems endless, especially once you get roughly north of Saginaw. It is one endless sea of pine trees with very little to break it up and one mile seems like ten. It is very natural and peaceful, just boring.
Connecticut on I-84 seems much longer than Massachusetts on I-90.
I agree when driving 84 across CT to Providence it becomes Rt 6 when leaving Hartford. A 2 lane road thru small towns. That drive feels like it takes forever.

I-55 through Mississippi is the most god awful, boring drive I have ever done or sat in on, and I love to travel by car.
It's the same un-changing flat red-mud pine forest forever (sans Jackson), and the highway feels physically tilted. At one point it seems like every exit for a million miles only goes to Yazoo city.
Taking 59 and heading into Alabama is much better and more scenic. Meridian is in a very pretty spot and 59 has a lot of Magnolias planted along it.
I'd say runner up for me was I-71 from Cincy to Cleveland. It manages to skip literally all of the Ohio hill country and is just trees, cops and farms for a billion years. However, Mississippi was still worse because A, Ohio had more to look at in general and B, the highway did not feel physically tilted (seriously, 55 is so uncomfortable).
I-64 from the West Virginia border to Lexington, which loops around to the Blue Grass Parkway, then onto I-65 to the Tennessee border is a tedious and boring drive. You have perpetual construction on that part of I-65. Generally is not patrolled so speeds up to and over 80 mph is common.
I-70 from West Virginia border to Columbus then I-270 to I-71 toward Cincinnati to the Kentucky border is quite a boring and long ride too. Ohio State Patrol is out in spots, but speed picks up closer to Columbus and Cincinnati.

LOL, Everyone hates driving though Connecticut on their highways. It's such a small state but its highways are in horrible condition, windy, lots of exits and merging on the left, slow speed limits, always packed with atrocious traffic. That stretch of I-95 between Greenwich and New Haven is such a hot mess, and yes I-84 sucks too. It always does seem to take so much longer to get through Connecticut than it should.
