Are the Contiguous US states more culturally similar to Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan than they are to Alaska and Hawaii?

What do you think?

Agreed. Neighboring states have a lot in common with their neighboring provinces, probably more so than they do with states in the South. Michigan probably has more in common with Ontario than it does with Alaska and Hawaii, but also more than it does with Louisiana or Alabama. Same with Washington State and BC, Montana and Alberta, the Dakotas and Saskatchewan/Manitoba, the Great Lakes States and Ontario, and Maine and the Maritimes. Quebec is the most different because of the language, but Maine and Northern NH/VT would still probably feel more at home there than the deep south.

There are some states with pretty close ties to Alaska and Hawaii. Alaska has a lot of cultural ties with Washington State (since everything gets shipped up from Seattle, and it'sthe closest big city), as well as culturalv ties to the Northern Mountain states (Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming). There is also ties to Texas because of the oil industry. Hawaii has a lot of ties to SoCal. Whenever I go there, I feel like it's home with warmer water and more humidity. There are a lot of Californians who live there and a lot of people who grew up in Hawaii end up in SoCal.

Problem with this is Alaska and Hawaii both have their own cultures so distinct from most of the 48, they could almost be independent nations.....Although,.... They still have similarities just for the fact that they're part of the US. I'd say lower Canada wins this one.
