Chicago

Best:
Thin crust tavern style pizza. Not found only in taverns, it's the default for local pizzerias.

Worst:
Chicago deep dish. Actually, it's not that it's bad, but for most of us, it's not a regular choice like thin crust is. I'll have it a couple times a year. Though Detroit style is becoming more common around Chicago, and I like that even better.

I've never really explored Rhode Island, I think that needs to change.
Go to Westerley, Naraganssett and Little Compton. Stay near the water. Tons of great local fish places that serve Quahogs and Clam Casino.

I need to try these clam cakes. Love hush puppies, love conch fritters, so these sounds good too.

When I think of Rhode Island, other than Quahog clams and calamari, I think of coffee milk, the state drink. I ordered coffee syrup online once just to get some so I could try this without actually going to RI.

We always do a Memorial Day week trip to Maine, New Hampshire and Mass - but of course that didn't happen this year. The next time we go I intend to switch things up, and go straight to RI from Ogunquit and fly home from Providence. Thanks for the tips.

Then you would love them, they are so good they're almost addictive.

Wisconsin
1. Coarse gray liver sausage
2. Frozen custard. The real stuff, not Culvers
3. Brats
4. Point or Leinenkugels, popular priced and not controlled by Brazilians or Belgians.
5. Are there still any broasted chicken franchises?
6. UP Pasties, but you have to duck across the state line to get them. Ask for rutabaga, they now usually default without.
7. Smoked sturgeon. Or smelt, if in season.

Worst
1. Pizza. Don't even try.
2. Cheese. Overpriced in fancy wrap at Cheeese Haus, but the same as the Kraft at an Akron Krogers

The tavern style is really a MN/WI style as well. Cut in squares, ingredients to the edges, dark red sauce, and a bagillion pounds of cheese. It's not my favorite style, but some people do love it

You couldn't just call it braunschweiger?

I think Leine's is owned by MillerCoors now too. I'd go with New Glarus over it.

When I visited Milwaukee, I tried this sandwich called The Rachel (essentially a Turkey Reuben). I thought it was pretty good.
