Bama is more expensive than I thought.

Yeah it's much more expensive but I prefer the new parts of Arlington.

500k will get you a nice twin home in the Pennsylvania suburbs.

A single family that is updated is closer to the 700k mark.

I just noticed that here in Sammamish, WA the median home price is now $1.1 million, so you could get half a house.

Seriously, I looked at the local listings and found 22. The lowest price is $740k, 3/2 1550 sf and a foreclosure. The highest is $4.79 million. Looking at condos, there are 5 in the mid $400k range in an area recently annexed to the city, and one for $375k, 1/1 691 sf.

This is a great deal. I live in D.C. and have considered moving to Philadelphia. The bang for your buck is incredible. So close to NYC, Washington, Baltimore, the beaches, the mountains. It checks off every box, and has some high wage jobs too: Comcast-NBC, AmerisourceBergen, Dupont, Aramark, Crown Holdings, Campbell Soup, etc.
