The Black professional class is definitely moving into Grand Boulevard. I’ve been looking for retail, but I haven’t been able to find much. Is there an area with retail commercial strips or maybe plans for commercial strips?
Yeah, the shopping areas are still quite sparse, though that is changing. 43 Green is a mixed-use TOD project being built by the 43rd St. Green Line station which would include a cafe and a bike shop. That's across the street from the Bronzeville Forum which is undergoing renovation after several decades of neglect.

This is great! I have been looking for another example of a Black neighborhood with new luxury multi-family high-rise housing construction with predominantly Black professionals moving into it. This is the first example outside of DC which proves it is possible in other cities. Black professionals are being intentional in moving to Grand Boulevard in Chicago. With 80-90% Black majority census blocks and increasingly high incomes, Grand Boulevard could become a major center of Black excellence in Chicago.
I will definitely be following Grand Boulevard over the years. With all the vacant land, there are so many possibilities. It could become a mixed-use downtown area with black owned retail establishments on the first floor of residential buildings throughout the neighborhood creating a Black downtown area. Could it be the next 21st century version of Black Broadway on U Street, Harlem Renaissance, or Black Wallstreet?
Affordable in Eastern MA is like 1800 for a 2BR and 2100 for 3BR and 1600 for 1BR 1300 for a studio. But it depends greatly on where in Eastern MA. Down by New Bedford and Fall River that's very expensive. In Boston and inside I95 (suburban loop up in Boston, I-93 is what goes through the city)/128.
I'm just saying those rents and lower can only be found there. Your not finding that low a price in Cambridge or Milton or Canton.
A lot more available for under 2000 in central Boston areas or north of Boston compared to Roxbury Dorchester and Mattapan due to all the long-term renters/income-restricted units in those areas... Inside the 128 loop (our beltway). You have about 2200 apartments for under 2000 available.

Only about 50 are in Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan and Hyde Park. Thi sint new construction btw- all these apts are old..
Are there any bars or clubs that cater to Black people in Dorchester, Roxbury, or Mattapan? We don't have any for the most part in Ward 7 or Ward 8 in DC. There are Black owned restaurants coming that will have bars so hopefully, they will provide that vibe at least. How about in Baltimore from your experience? I feel like the only places were downtown Baltimore.

Yea there are small number Macumba Lounge in Mattapan Square plays mostly Dembow Dominican but a little bit of hip hop.
Kay’s Oasis Lounge in Dorchester does mostly Dancehall
Russel Auditorium and Carvers Tavern (same complex) have old school/soul and traditional (old) reggae/roots.
Dublin House in Dorchester/Uphams Corner does hip hop and it’s for the ratchets, I don’t even go.
Slades is in Roxbury and that’s a lounge/jazz club, mostly old heads and middle class.
Jazz Urbane Cafe is a black owned jazz club opening in the Fall in Nubian Square.
Young black people tend to go to downtown Boston and Karma Lounge in Everett. It’s lit in Karma Lounge https://www.instagram.com/p/CdT1F8sv...d=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
Baltimore actually has a good number of *small* clubs in the black neighborhoods in the east side. Especially northeast and just over the border in the county. Some of those places have a low brow clientele and some lower income whites as well, but people like them. There’s only one I know well though and that’s Melba’s. I think most of them are more bars than nightclubs. There’s very fe true clubs in Baltimore in general and the quality and interior of them is very much below what you find in DC or Boston

Karma looks like a vibe. Nice crowd too. I haven’t seen anything related to the arts. Any Black artist galleries or poetry spots that cater to a Black crowd in the Black neighborhoods of Boston?

An interview with the CEO, a native, of this non profit: https://www.blueprint15.org/ that is looking to revitalize the bolded area, as a portion of I-81 in between Downtown and University Hill is slated to be removed.

It is crazy how little Black people know about Boston. These are some really nice venues. Definitely want to check out The National Center of Afro American Artists. Also, Black Market Nubian looks similar to the concept used by Market 7 in DC for Black owned businesses. No cap!
