I think this is pretty common for counties in between the bigger and even relatively mid sized Upstate NY cities. So, if you are in say eastern Ontario County or Seneca County, you likely get all or most of those station affiliates in Rochester and Syracuse. Same for Genesee County and Buffalo and Rochester station affiliates.

Bristol County MA definitely used to get both Boston and Providence stations but I haven't been down there in a long time.

There must be hundreds of counties where you can pick up stations from two cities -- varying widely by what kind if antenna you are using. Rabbit ears should be good for at least 40 miles, rooftop 80, depending on height of transmission towers.. TV signals are line-of-sight and get gobbed up by curvature of the earth. At distance, VHF channels (2-13) come in a lot clearer than UHF.

So basically there is no way I can get a list or map that shows counties where you get broadcast stations from multiple DMAs?

Nielson has a map showing the DMA by county.

So, you are looking for this, which includes market rankings: https://thevab.com/storage/app/media...A_Map_2019.pdf

It looks like Oneida County NY is split between being in the Syracuse and Utica markets. That is odd, as Utica has NBC(WKTV 2) and ABC(WUTR 20) affiliates, but I'm assuming it is split, because the closest CBS affiliate is from Syracuse(WTVH 5, which uses the same facilities as the NBC affiliate, WSTM 3). WSYR 9 is the Syracuse ABC affiliate. Both have FOX affiliates(WSYT 68 in Syracuse and WFXV 33 Utica). That was the only county that I saw that was literally split between 2 different DMA's. Between the 2 DMA's there are about 1.4 million people, with about a 1 million or so in the Syracuse DMA.

Oneida County is in the Utica-Rome MSA, which also includes Herkimer County to the east and has about 300k people. So, if you live in Rome, which is in western Oneida County, you are likely to get all of these TV stations. Same for places in that area of the county like Sylvan Beach, Camden, Verona, the Oneida Nation(inc. Turning Stone Resort and Casino), etc.

Update...It looks like Lea County in SE NM is split between the Albuquerque and Odessa-Midland TX markets. Lea County south goes to Odessa-Midland, while Lea County north goes with Albuquerque. So, places like Lovington and Hobbs are in the Albuquerque DMA, but the more rural south portion is in the O-M DMA. It is also the Hobbs NM micro area.

Apache County AZ in the eastern portion of that state also has a north/south split. North is in the Albuquerque DMA, while South is in the Phoenix DMA. Much of the county is covered by Navajo Nation land.

Solano County CA in Northern CA is split between the Bay Area and Sacramento DMAs. It is its own MSA(Vallejo MSA).

El Dorado County CA, also in Northern CA is largely in the Sacramento DMA, but a small portion next to Nevada is in the Reno DMA. It is in the Sacramento MSA.

Kern County CA in the Central Valley is largely in the Bakersfield DMA, but a portion of the eastern part of the county is in the Los Angeles DMA. The county covers the Bakersfield MSA.

Riverside County CA has a central portion in the Palm Springs DMA, but the rest of the county is in the Los Angeles DMA.

I am looking for that link BUT one where it shows counties that get TV stations for multiple DMAs.
Example, Fairfield County is shown as the NY DMA but it gets Hartford too.

There are plenty of those across the country. I think what you may have to do is to put in a specific community in the previously posted website and see which stations can be viewed in that community. I believe that it will show the stations that community can get without cable and using an appropriate antenna. So, you may have to see what say New Canaan gets versus what Greenwich

No, there is no one map. There are ~2,000 broadcast TV signals and ~15,000 broadcast radio stations (of widely varying power, from 100W low-power to 50,000-watt AM clear-channels audible for hundreds of miles), and those signals' geographies never overlap cleanly with the ~3,000 county lines, creating millions of combinations -- far too many to show on a single map.

Suffice it to say that very many counties can receive broadcast signals from multiple DMAs, and probably most of those that are at DMA borders.

In the early days of VHF allotments, it was common to split up non-metros, with two nearby cities each getting one or two channels. Examples would be Madison/Rockford, Green Bay/Marinette, Grand Rapids/ Kalamazoo, or Traversae City/Cadillac. They were intended to jointly serve both cities, and obviously, the counties in between.

Surprisingly, considering how untested the concept, the FCC acted with considerable logic and good sense.
