Looking at a PPM 2.5 map of air pollution in the US paints a pretty dismal picture.

What regions, states, metros etc are known for having consistently good air quality?

I would be interested in this as well! I would think the PNW has good air quality in general, but the recent years fires have put that in question for me.

As a rule, rural coastal areas generally have the best air quality. It’s not all about PM2.5 though, you’ve also got to watch out for PM0.3 which can be more harmful.

I was gonna say Hawaii.

I don't believe Boise should be there for clean air. Usually fire smog in the summer months, and inversions in the winter.

The coastal PNW and Puget Sound area tend to be pretty good, as prevailing winds come from the ocean. We tend to avoid a large percentage of wildfire smoke...not much at all this year.
