I was raised in MA and then lived in Ohio. I’d hate to think that children miss sled riding and skiing in the winter, or skating on frozen ponds.
I live in the south now, but I crave a good snowfall. I can still conjure up the smell and feel of a cold snowy day, and the thrill of flying down a hill in a flying saucer. Not to mention the deliciousness of a snow day when school was closed.
I realized how much I actually don’t care for snow when I worked at a hotel. Guests from warm weather places would get so excited and express how much they wanted to move after having fun in the snow. But all I could think about was how I just had to shovel my driveway first thing in the morning and struggled to navigate roads that hadn’t been plowed yet… It’s beautiful but that’s all. It’s really nice in small amounts though.
I like snow.
I don’t like cool/cold winters without it.
It’s not an issue in places that are used to getting it.
Freeway travel can be an issue because there’s all sorts of people traveling on them, but I hate freeways just as much in dry sunny weather.
Snow is preferable to ice storms and winter tornados and unbearable summers.
If I didn’t want to deal with anything weather-wise I’d go to San Diego, but that brings up a whole other set of issues far worse than inconvenient weather.
I love how quiet it is in the woods after a snow. In a place with good infrastructure for snow removal, I enjoy snow. In a place without good snow removal (Seattle) it's kind of a mess.
I'm glad that some people like snow. This is a big world with room for everyone. I'm personally glad when I don't have to deal with snow. I like for it to stick around like one day. LOL But I'm glad some other people like it so they can enjoy winters where it snows a lot.
In the US, most people compromise in some way weather wise. That's OK too. I remind myself of why I love Texas winters when it's still warm in November.
