Not that I'm saying there's no legit reason to move out of CA, there's quite a few. Just 'boredom' is a state of mind caused by lack of things of interest. But if you can't find anything of interest in Southern California then why on earth would there be anything in Las Cruces (essentially a cheaper, poorer version of an inland CA city) to capture your interest?
It's very easy to feel restless if you've been seeing the same streets, businesses, parks, people, etc. for years, especially for your whole life. I definitely understand OP's desire to leave.

It would be helpful to know the person's occupation. That can be a major determinate of where to look. As a general rule, US public transit stinks. The best options will be in cold weather cities.

If you feel that 'restlessness', you're in a rut.

Moving out of state can feel like a fix for that because you get the 'new' everything feeling at first, but it's highly likely that your feeling of a 'rut' is caused by other personal and psychological issues and if you don't adjust other things in your life, you'll soon be back in your old familiar frame of mind.

I think if we're honest this forum has quite a few people who're on the run from themselves.

I don't say there's no good reason to move, it's just that you'd do well to examine your motivations very carefully if you can't pin it down to anything concrete and instead just blame it on a general feeling of malaise.

Thanks.

Looking at Las Cruces; definitely nice to see places I could actually afford.

I will continue to research and take trips before making any moves though (obviously)
Las Cruces will have the weather where you can bike most of the year, but it won't have much of a public transit system.

I want a place that matches up with the kind of a person i am. Urban life just doesn't suit me. I work hard alright, but i like to take things slow and easy. I like time alone and long walks. I think a more rural area would do me good. So, in hindsight, it doesn't HAVE to be outside of California; just out of LA. But it does have to be affordable for a person on a tight budget. I'm probably not being specific enough or unrealistic. Let me know. All I know is that I want to leave LA for somewhere quieter, cheaper, with good access to nature. I could live without an internet connection even. I've lived with a lot less.

Silver City NM has winter temps that average low 50s for highs but will be cold (but rarely super cold) in morning. 50 days get over 90 in summer.

Carlsbad NM is about 10 degrees warmer than SC with highs usually 60 or above in winter. 115 days over 90 though.

Each might get a few snows in town per year but SC a bit more likely and a good amount of snow in the mountains.

Silver City has one bus route around most of the town and a few rides to nearby towns. Carlsbad has a few fixed bus routes and demand service. During daytime.

These are 2 small places that could be close to what you want if you went with NM. There are others. Truth of Consequences. Maybe Santa Rosa, Grants or Aztec, though they will have some winter.

Cottonwood and Payson AZ might be possibilities, rents may be above what you prefer. Or Wickenburg. Same with Catalina and Oracle north of Tucson. If you'd do a mobile home, they might be affordable.

Within California, MAYBE Julian, Banning or Hemet might work in the south or perhaps a place like Sonora or Grass Valley in mid-state.
