I have lived in several states and one thing all of them have in common is two sayings.

1. This state has the weirdest weather. One minute it's 90 degrees and the next minute it's 50.

2a. The drivers here are the worst.
2b. The drivers with insert nearby state plates are the worst.

In DFW, people say DFW drivers are the worst. People with out of state plates are actually better drivers than people who live around here.

In Chicago, people say that cars from the suburbs and from Wisconsin are slow drivers and they often don't know where they are going. The suburbs drivers think that drivers from the city are crazy. People from Indiana think that Illinois drivers are the worst.

In Kansas City, people from the Missouri side hate Kansas drivers and people from the Kansas side hate Missouri drivers.

In NC, people think any license plate from the north is going to be a crazy driver.

People think these things are unique to their state or area, but they really aren't. Are there other sayings you can think of that people think are unique but aren't?

This is NOT true where I live (coastal Southern California), but I have heard people say it anyway! I recently had a mild argument with a person on a different forum when I commented that this saying is inappropriate for my location. We get days and weeks and months on end of weather that hardly changes. She insisted that I was absolutely wrong, if you wait 15 minutes the weather will change and I clearly had little experience living here!

By the way I have been here over 50 years.

About driving, I notice that people here don't judge by license plates so much but they definitely judge by the type of vehicle. If someone is speeding and weaving in and out of traffic and cutting people off, and their car happens to be a BMW, well of course BMW drivers are just like that.

Oh, and California has the highest taxes, looniest politicians, worst wildfires, and most crowded freeways, even though I'm pretty sure it doesn't hold a monopoly on any of those categories. Most homeless, okay, I'll grant that one.

People in every city and state say their drivers are the worst. It's a pointless diatribe.

I think most people say that because they haven't lived anywhere else. I have lived in many places and find drivers to be terrible, just in slightly different ways in each place.
