Hello I'm a bit young still in high school but I wanna plan ahead and I wanna see where would be the best place for myself
I'm in Texas and I wanna leave for multiple reasons main reasons being politics, climate and just the urge to try somewhere new!
Now for some things I'm looking for
• somewhere progressive
• somewhere with a fairly moderate climate or st least not super hot during the summer
• in a city that at the minimum medium size or Smaller but close to a larger city
• not super expensive, willing to pay a bit in rent but nothing like LA or New York city
• preferably somewhere close to but not directly on a coastline (can be directly on say a lake)
• preferably somewhere more green and lush
With this in mind i ask on other places and got some responses, most promising so far are evanston Illinois, Minneapolis Minnesota, Madison Wisconsin and astoria Oregon. would love some additional information on those as well as other suggestions!
I’d also say mid sized/major Great Lakes cities/areas like Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, Milwaukee, Toledo, Buffalo, Rochester, Grand Rapids and Syracuse(last 2 more inland, but metros touch a Great Lake and the latter is on a smaller lake).
Northern Virginia DC suburbs, or the Richmond, VA area
Baltimore, Maryland region
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania region
Providence, RI
Boston, MA region
New Haven, CT
Portland, ME

these are good.. Id take out Boston though as its way too expansive. Id replace that with Worcester.
The Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania sounds perfect for you, as well:
- Within 90 minutes of NYC and Philadelphia;
- Progressive hubs like Bethlehem, Allentown and Easton;
- Within 90 minutes to NJ beaches;
- Very reasonable income-to-cost-of-living ratio; and
- Moderate climate and very lush surroundings
What area I’m Texas is not super hot in the summer and lush?
Typical CD post, arguing for the sake of arguing, while missing the point. The OP said "some of the things", meaning that not every box must be checked. As we've already seen, there is a scattershot list, with very little rhyme or reason based on reality. This person is in high school. No mention of future income, college or trade school prospects, family support network, etc - which likely will play a much bigger role in geographic decision making vs. the list in this post.
It pays to dream, but it also pays to be realistic.
