True, I was thinking of Skyscrapers/buildings over 150m where we are still behind Chicago and we lack the over 300m Chicago has. We might get a building that compares to the Old Standard Oil Building and John Hancock center soon, but aren't likely to get anything that approaches Sears or the Trump building (400m+) anytime soon.

The city of Toronto is still behind Chicago in skyscrapers, but Metropolitan Toronto is ahead of Metropolitan Chicago for built and under construction skyscrapers (150m).

What are the exact numbers. Quickly looking at Wikipedia, Chicago has 137, Toronto has 91 with 39 others being under construction. Which puts us slightly below, unless we are trying to count buildings in like Vaughan and Sauga.
Latest round has Toronto "only" having 28 +150m buildings U/C right now (44 in the entire GTA)
Theres something like ~200 proposed in the entire GTA region, but if we are going off of proposals then these list get super arbitrary.
Austin has more +150m buildings than Montreal as is (in part due to Montreal having strict height limits). The difference is Montreal has hilariously more infill mid-rise development due to being twice the size of Austin. It also doesn't build its skyscrapers/high-rises on top 10-15 story parking podiums either, so there are major nuances.
Not even just due to being bigger, but because of how compact and dense the place is. It’s basically shoulder to shoulder midrises and high rises throughout its core, and then again spread out through the island. To mention the two in the same vein was simply bizarre.

And what does that tell me ?
There are not 250 skyscrapers under construction in downtown Toronto
Or maybe you’re defining a skyscraper as 50 ft
There aren’t even 250 skyscrapers under construction in Shenzen
Yea, I think there is a disconnect between skyscraper vs. any building.
That link appears to show every building under construction in Toronto, most of which are not skyscrapers. I clicked around and some are only 4 stories.
I didn't feel like debating the poster, but I knew Toronto didn't have 250 skyscrapers under construction (though the numbers are still impressive).

Skyscraper.... highrise... lowrise, doesn't matter. The city alone has 250 U/C, pre-construction is another 100 or so and proposals are 200-300. Toronto is growing at a insane clip, so the construction makes sense. The amount of cranes in that city is remarkable, doesn't even feel real lol.
Every single day there's multiple 50+ floor developments proposed, the suburbs look like major cities themselves, it's North America's next megacity, if not, already. It will eventually overtake Chicago as second tallest skyline in N.A (albeit, without the awesome architecture) and we are very excited for that.

The thread is called "North America Highrise Construction Map".
No one is denying that Toronto is booming, it was a simple question/correction about your claim of "250 skyscrapers under construction".
