Not quite true. Pittsburgh always had a big health care sector. It just took on more prominence as steel declined. I am a graduate of the Pitt School of Nursing.

I heard on the radio, yesterday, I think about new hospital rankings. U of Colorado Hospital was highly ranked, National Jewish Hospital (Denver) ranked #1 for respiratory care.

I guess you can see from the responses that there are a lot of places, and no one best place. In general, big cities with medical schools have the best job oppotunities.

Unless I've been shot or in a car accident, and need a 1st class trauma unit, I wouldn't be caught dead at Stroger County Hospital. No pun intended.

Houston has the world's largest medical center, I believe.

But that's already been said a million times.

I'd actually say that's a downside, especially for new docs, because of how hard the competition is.

The Cleveland Clinic Foundation - Cleveland, Ohio

Known for it's outstanding Cardiac Care Dept. among other specialities and one of the top hospitals overall in the U.S. Also, there is a Cleveland Clinic Hospital location in Florida! My family has received the majority of our care at the Clinic and know first hand of it's excellence!
