What are some of the best small towns you've ever visited or lived in?
My picks:
Berea, Kentucky
- huge amount of Appalachian arts and crafts stores
- home to Berea College, a highly prestigious school where low income students get a free 4 year education. Also first Southern school to allow Blacks and women.
- great economy, population has nearly DOUBLED just since 2000!
- located at the foot of the Appalachian Mountains, great hiking trails just 3 miles from Downtown
- Bike trails are everywhere (this is b/c Berea College students are prohibited cars until they're a junior)
Danville, KY - site of first: post office west of the Appalachians, site of first abdominal surgery, state supported school for the deaf
- known as "Title town Kentucky" for its HUGE amount of state football championships
