What does the word "hick" mean to you???

I thought it was a very good map! Defined the south very well.

Its like when people think of the Southwest, which I only cosider is New Mexico,Arizona and El Paso, but others will add in Colorado,Utah,Southern Calif.Nevada and some of W.Oklahoma

you don't make any sense?

Well done MissyMom! That map comes as close as any map as I've ever seen to describing the cultural and geographic South. The only amendment I have is this: Instead of calling Oklahoma the "Deep South II" (cause Oklahoma obviously has a more "western" feel than the Deep South)...perhaps we could call it the "Cowboy South" or something like that. Either way, great job and thanks Sister.

I suppose I could have had I known someone would throw a tantrum over it.

This is the way I feel as well, but I also picture eastern Kentucky as a coal-centric place like West Virginia, but I am probably off-base, because I have never spent time there.

Missymom, how come certain parts of states aren't included in The Deep South but the rest of the state is and just why isn't the historically Deep South state of South Carolina not in there?

Honey I believe that the maker of that map are showing the different types of cultures throughout the South but it is not an exact map I don't guess, you kinda have to look pretty darn close to see the state lines. To the rest of you who thanked me, you are all welcome. I am just glad I found it
