The cities that match with Paris, London, and Rome. The Cities that a farmer in Mongalia would have heard of. The most comsmopliton cities of our country. Here's my list(in no order):

New York
Boston
Philiadelphia
Miami
Chicago
Washington D.C.
Los Angeles
San Francisco

Should be the urban regions which attract smart kids from across world for leading colleges and/or for their career...

Suspect NYC, SiliconValley, Bos, Phila, Chic and LA dominate....

Conversely, many alleged global cities (like Paris, Rome, etc) are tourist towns which lack competent colleges and/or have stagnant economies, lacking valuable cos. and valuable new cos. and start-ups....

Lots of alleged global cities w/many millions of underachieving people...

I would never put Dallas in the same category with Paris, London, etc. But if you go pretty much anywhere in the world (Mongolia?) and say, "Texas" or "Dallas," they know the place. I found that strange.

Maybe it's the tv show...?

Mongolian farmer lol! i agree with those mentioned. i'd throw in Dallas too.

most people i've spoken to overseas know DC as "Washington". i always get confused whenever they ask me if i've ever been to Washinton. i'm like "the state?"
