Umm-Minneapolis and Omaha are certainly not fitting into that bracket.

i know. those are exceptions. but usually its north.

same with the world as a whole.
north america is more developed than south.
northern europe more than southern.
northern asia more than southern.

even within the U.S. - the north is more devloped.

part of this is due to the fact that psychologically the north has more positive connotations associated with it. north implies things like higher, brighter, etc.

In Richmond its Jeff Davis Hwy just south of town, for sure. Lots of hookers and drug dealers that way.
Not that I would know....

In the Cleveland area the worst part is the Eastside of Cleveland and East Cleveland.

In other cities in the Cleveland area: For Lorain, the central area and part of South Lorain. For Elyria, the Southside/SW. For Akron, generally the westside but thats arguable now. For Youngstown, the Southside and part of the westside. The whole city of East Cleveland.

In Atlanta, it's the neighborhoods to the west and southwest of downtown ie English Ave, Bankhead and Vine City. Sketchy suburbs are to be found in north Clayton and Fayette counties, south Fulton county, northwestern Gwinnett county, south DeKalb county and south Cobb county.
