the T in boston doesn't run late because the taxi unions would strike if they extended the T's running hours. they did have that Night Owl Bus for awhile, but wasn't cost efficient.

I've thought about that, maybe its a scheme to give the cab drivers business?

2 Lines run 24/7

The other 5 lines run from between around 4:30am to 2am.

18 bus routes also run 24/7

I'll never forget my trip to Boston when I was 17. Me and a freind took a bus up there from NY for the weekend.
We went to a club near Fenway. I guess back then they didn't ID. So we got to the club by train, we were staying in a hostile near the school of music.
we went to the club at 1 am, cuz thats when people start their night in NYC.
We paid like $15 to get in, and an hour later we were on the street at 2am in a snow storm.
We walked back to the train station and it said that the last train left at 1:54 am.
So we just walked around the city of Boston til 5am. It ended up all right, but we were shocked about the position we were put in.
transportation should be 24/7 in a city like Boston , especially with all those drunk college students.

I know people in DC wish they ran 24 hours a day. Instead, they close just shortly after 12 in the last station the train pulls into on whichever line and they close it at 2 hours later on Friday and Saturday nights.

At least run one train every 30 minutes or so if you run it 24 hours because many people in DC do work between 12 and 5. But it's understandable why they do not run 24 hours. The area is not as big as New York. But more and more people are starting to use it now.

Its more affordable and better for the environment. I always felt that I should get a tax credit or something for using public transportation over private.

I love the 24/7 public transit, it ended the years of having to make plans around when the buses and trains stop running. Can't tell you how many times I ended up walking home from Harvard Square in my slightly misspent youth.

Buffalo's Subway usually stops at 12:00. That is much too early for the many nightlife attractions around - especially since "last call" is at 4am!

My favorite is walking out of a bar at 5am, getting a bite to eat wasted with friends, then sloshing around on a train completely spent and drunk at 6am surrounded by people in suits and all dressed up going to work.

Have a nice day! Let me know how it was!
