i guess a few years back one of the shows was going to be in newport ri in one of the mansions but fell through.
The Real World and Road Rules, competing in a series of sports and endurance events. The winner will take home $300,000.
The 28 cast members would live in a mansion known as Ivy Tower, at 533 Bellevue Ave. The size of the cast would shrink from week to week as contestants are eliminated.
i guess the rich a$$ newport folk complained to much and brought up this ruling.
Challenge won’t tape in Newport.
Because of an ordinance that limits the number of people living in a house to five, the 28 cast members of the next Real World/Road Rules Challenge will not live in a mansion in Newport, Rhode Island. Neighbors near the mansion planned to challenge the plans, but Bunim-Murray backed out just before the issue was discussed at a city council meeting
also found this on wikipedia . always wondered what happened with that a few years ago.
This Challenge was originally intended to be held in Newport, Rhode Island. The mansion for the site of the Challenge was already selected, the house had been renovated and there had already been website postings about the house, with its location and look revealed. Luckily for production, the Newport City Council barred production from filming there and filming was moved to the Wyndham Peaks Resort in Telluride, Colorado. Almost no one knew where the Challenge was filmed until it had ended

I guess it's because it's been overdone in Chicago and NY. That's kind of funny about throwing paint at their building. I think that show has been on for too long anyway. It's gotten less and less popular over the years.
Why not pick a city it hasn't been done in? Who cares if it isn't a big city. People around the country need to see there's other "cool" places to be than just big cities. But at the same time, there has to be enough of a nightlife that they can film them being idiots around town when they're drunk lol.
