I think the one we have now suits us just FINE! WHY would you want to change the American Flag to anything else? Just because its 'vouge' or the 'in thing' to do? I think not! People have fought and died for the one we have, and I am proud to have it as it is...
This is actually an amazingly hard design challenge. So many states, corporations and other countries have copied the US flag. Blue and red don't really go well together and they're both dark so you don't want them to touch. Try it! Get a copy of Corel Draw and export as a gif using the adaptive pallet. You can probably make a crude version in MS Paint.
You also have to consider how well they hang vertically.
This one makes a good banner too.
Personally, I think cyan and magenta go together a lot better but people hate it.
I really like the cyan/magenta one. It's really edgy and different, for sure.
I'm pretty sure that the OP was just viewing a flag redesign as the ultimate graphic design challenge, which it would indeed be. However, there's probably no way around the barrage of hate it's receiving from overzealous nationalists who view the very idea as a threat to their inherited ideology.
I'd really rather not vote on this one, but if you really want my opinion, I'd say the second one is the most striking visually, but, as pointed out, it would probably never live down its similarity to a certain sports logo already in use.

That C & M one makes me want to barf... It reminds me of when I was a kid and my parents were too cheap to buy me a real rubik's cube, so they bought me some ripoff brand that used, cyan, magenta and lime green instead of the primary colors.
