Miami may and vegas may have clubs and bars (and soon to be maybe casinos in miami as well) going on 24x7 but nyc has EVERYTHING going on 24x7. Several of the subway lines shut down overnight in Chicago for about 4 hours... does this happen in NYC?
We stopped in Demning, NM, and the town was hopping all night long. Think we found the Western Myrtle Beach, SC, or Branson, MO, or Pigeon Forge, TN, or Nashville, TN.
lol yeah, because that's what makes a city never sleep I've never once heard New Orleans is the city that doesn't sleep. NY doesn't have that reputation for nothing.
Haha please. Only in New Orleans can you start your day at 12:30AM Sunday morning, get all your grocery shopping done by 1AM, get a bite to eat at one of numerous 24hr eateries (not talking about fast food or IHOP either) at 2, down to the French Quarter at 3, another bite to eat at 5, then over to CVS for cigarettes and booze at 6, to the casino at 6:30, then back home at 8 for a nap.
Only to do it all over again the next night. And don't get me started about Mardi Gras season.

You obviously haven't been to NY.
Just like how Huey Lewis says in one of the songs, "where else can you do a half a million things, all at a quarter to 3?" nope, he doesn't mean New Orleans lol.
Again, when I "young". I would go to a club until maybe 3 or 4 AM, then go to an afterhours (private club) place when the club closed. Then we would go to a 24/7 diner for breakfast. Get home maybe about 9 AM and sleep the entire day.

Hard to keep the party going though when all the booze runs out at 4 and nobody's sellin'. Switch to tea maybe?
Las Vegas and New Orleans are the only two major cities in America that sell booze 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as far as I know. And the only cities where you can carry your drink onto the street and in Vegas you don't even need a "to go cup".
Pretty much every night I've stayed in either city I've always seen the sun come up, which is not easy to do every night for a week straight during Mardi Gras.
Go to New Orleans during Mardi Gras and people will stay up from Monday (Lundi Gras) evening through all the parades on Mardi Gras day. I remember my last time in Mardi Gras some of the bars being packed at sunrise on Mardi Gras day. My last day at MG I stayed up for 42 hours straight, started Monday at 11am and didn't go to bed till Wed at 5am.

This is why they say NYC never sleeps.
Most clubs in New Orleans rarely "close" before 6AM, unless it's particularly slow that night. You can go downtown on a Monday night and you'd swear it was a Saturday night.
