The "American Pie" movies were set in a fictional city that was based on East Grand Rapids, Michigan. They used the fictional name of "East Great Falls." The movies mostly weren't filmed there, but they did feature a few shots of the area and Lake Michigan, and lots of Michigan references in the script!

More Mass.: Mystic River, The Perfect Storm (the parts on land at least; a lot of it was set out at sea), Jaws (flimed in MA, on Martha's Vineyard; the movie never specified a state if I'm not mistaken, while the novel set the town on Long Island), some scenes in the original The Out-of-Towners . . . not sure about the more recent version.
